Biography:

After earning undergraduate degrees in business and English, Joel began in the helping professions, not expecting that his first job would be his first step toward a diverse career. 

The greatest pride of his career thus far has been working with diverse populations throughout various settings.  Joel has provided services to individuals in outpatient, inpatient, partial, residential, school, jail and prison settings and worked alongside a forensic polygraph examiner in the treatment of violent and sexual offenders. 

Throughout his career, Joel's forensic work has involved specialized treatment for sexual and violent abusers, persons dependent on substances, pathological gambling, sexual compulsiveness, treatment for victims as well as persons convicted of assault crimes.  His more general practice work has involved providing services for those suffering from illness or injury and life adjustment, sexual orientation and adjustment issues, Trichotillomania, end of life issues, insomnia and sleep behaviors, posttraumatic stress disorder as well as the ranges of depression, adjustment and anxiety.

At Northshore Psychological, Joel routinely provides psychotherapy to neurological patients to address psychogenic nonepileptic seizures (PNES), persons with post-concussive syndrome, and serves as the clinical supervisor for the counseling/psychotherapy division of the practice.
